International entrance to the Netherlands

Schiphol Airport is the 4th busiest airport in Europe. With more than 9,000 companies belonging to more than 30 different sectors, this area is the core area of ​​a new international business environment. However, various challenges need to be addressed, such as optimal accessibility, good commuting mix, quality of public greenery, etc. Due to the major interests, numerous stakeholders are involved in the project area, making the decision-making process very complex.

Digital Twin as a tool

The aim of the project was to create a platform through which stakeholders could be informed about all relevant spatial and not just insights, share and combine their data and brainstorm, so that they can all communicate more easily and effectively and make data-driven decisions during planning process of the development of the area.

PosadMaxwan and MUG are working together to build a digital twin. This online GIS tool consists of data modules, a viewer and a dashboard that generates insights for the core corridor. The digital twin must demonstrate how the area is performing on a number of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). When realizing the Digital Twin, different information flows are applied. To keep the Digital Twin manageable in the future, a protocol will be established in the project describing the origin of the data / information.

Components of digital twin
- Data bank: Centralized platform for collecting, storing and utilising all data
- Dashboard: Thematic dashboard(s) providing specific insights\monitoring kpi’s
- Urban model: 3D model of the Enter[NL] corridor showcasing relevant insights
