Water is vital to the Netherlands. It affects where and how we live and has an impact on our nature, drinking water, shipping, agriculture and industry. To indicate how we deal with the challenges of our water, and to keep our country safe and attractive for generations to come, the central government is developing the National Water Program 2022-2027. For this, we mapped out major challenges such as climate change, environmental pollution and spatial pressure and how they are related.

We must continue to work on proper flood protection and climate robust freshwater supplies against increasing drought. Care for good water quality and sustainable drinking water supplies also deserve attention. For water policy, the NWP is an elaboration of the National Environmental Vision (NOVI). The ministries of Infrastructure and Water Management, the Interior and Kingdom Relations, and Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality share responsibility for drafting the plan.

The national government developed the National Water Program 2022 - 2027, this program describes the policy and management of Dutch water. It works on clean, safe and sufficient water that is climate-adaptive and future-proof. PosadMaxwan was asked to support this by producing maps and infographics. It concerns maps that give an overview of the current state of Dutch waters in terms of ecological and chemical status, overview maps of future tasks throughout the country, but also maps of specific wetlands, such as the South Western Delta, the IJsselmeer region and the Wadden Sea. Some of these maps were produced from existing map material, others were created from sessions. The infographics give an overview of the different steps that will be taken and the connection with other programs and tasks.
