We were commissioned by the Municipality of Haarlemmermeer to draw up an urban design and visual quality plan for the sustainable Lincolnpark neighborhood in Hoofddorp. Residents here share a courtyard garden, park in centrally located parking buildings and live among lots of greenery. By using sustainable materials and smart water and energy solutions, the district is ready for the future.

Lincoln Park has room for about 1,600 homes with a mix of different housing sizes and price ranges, for sale and for rent. The neighborhood will also house small businesses, workplaces and facilities and 50 to 100 community care homes. In addition, the district will have two supermarkets, two schools and a sports hall. Thanks to its location and connection to Haarlem, Leiden and Amsterdam, Lincolnpark will be an ideal place to live and work.

Residents will share facilities such as neighborhood hubs with shared cars and bikes, workplaces and parcel points. The neighborhood will have an excellent network of bicycle paths and plenty of room for walking. The park-like layout of the neighborhood provides many meeting places.

The land for the new neighborhood will not come on the market all at once. Groups of individuals will have the opportunity in Lincoln Park to build homes together through Collective Private Ownership (CPO). Developers will be selected for the first lots starting in 2022 and the first homes will be delivered starting in 2024.

Sharing together

In Lincoln Park, people are creating their own place to live and work with their neighbors. Residents share amenities such as outdoor space together. The neighborhood will have an excellent network of bike paths and plenty of space for walking. In addition to cars, the parking buildings also house shared cars and bicycles. This often eliminates the need for a private car or second car. There is room here for shared facilities such as workplaces and parcel points. Because of the park-like layout of the neighborhood there are many meeting places, where there is room for activities or a chat.

Phased development

The land for the new neighborhood will not come on the market in one or two batches. Alderman Jurgen Nobel: "We will always issue a limited number of pieces of land in the coming years because we want to learn from experience. Developers will be challenged to build sustainably and circularly to meet the project objectives. We will actively share the knowledge we gain." Groups of private individuals will have the opportunity to build homes together in Lincoln Park through Collective Private Ownership (CPO).
