Commissioned by the Municipality of Utrecht, PosadMaxwan, in collaboration with Felixx Landscape Architects & Planners, TAUW Nederland, Goudappel, Shift architecture urbanism, Urban Reality, and Plan B, has developed the Environmental Vision for Overvecht. The vision outlines how the densification and transformation of the district can sustainably contribute to improving livability.

The approach focuses on densification around public transport hubs, minimal demolition, and strengthening green infrastructure. Additionally, the addition of 5,000 homes, 3,000 workplaces, and facilities creates opportunities to introduce new housing types to the neighborhood.
The vision came about in a process in which official experts, the design consortium, relevant stakeholders (such as developers and corporations) and local organizations (such as the Neighborhood Platform) worked intensively
cooperation. In addition, an extensive participation process took place in which residents were included and questioned about the various ideas online, at participation meetings and in the neighborhood itself.
The environmental vision describes what Overvecht will look like in 2040, with specific elaboration for architectural and urban planning principles, mobility and landscape. The vision also contains an implementation strategy with financial calculations and a description of concrete steps to achieve realization step by step.
