Sustainability is about finding a healthy balance between people, the environment and a prosperous community without depleting the earth. This balance poses a major challenge to political, social and spatial debate. How can we meet our present needs while ensuring that future generations are not restricted in their needs and desires? This is at the heart of the pursuit of the nature-inclusive city.

In this guide, divided into five chapters, we explore the various aspects of a nature-inclusive city and answer the question: How can we as urban designers contribute to this development and achieve real change? Insights on sustainability, urbanism and transitions from our projects over the past few years are brought together herein. From floating cities and underground construction projects to heat corridors and circularity in post-war neighborhoods-everything is covered. Happy reading!
