The Binckhorst is a dynamic area in The Hague with a broad mix of industrial functions, city-related activity, start-ups and creative economy. The Binckhorst is one of the last large infill locations in the city, so the bar has been set high. The area has great potential to become a central location in the city and to enrich the urban fabric of The Hague with new living and working environments.

Commissioned by the municipality of The Hague, PosadMaxwan is working on the spatial-economic positioning and design of a robust network for public space. We are also conducting explorations into the desired spatial typologies and design quality of building blocks in the area. We are also working on specific area passports to be drawn up for the Binckhorst by market parties and the municipality. The spatial framework for the Binckhorst focuses on drawing up possible urban environments and building typologies for the Binckhorst. The framework serves as preliminary work for the urban planning input into the Binckhorst environmental plan and for the vision and image quality plan yet to be drawn up for the skyline (and eye-line) of downtown The Hague. It also provides guidance for the future development of the various subareas and for assessing and advising on initiatives in the Binckhorst.

In addition to the new facilities, the housing program and the economic program, the spatial impact of this program on the city's sustainable energy ambitions was studied in a separate project. This took into account a growth of 5,000-10,000 homes on the Binckhorst.
