The transformation of the Amstelveen Line, which began in 2018, included the renewal of the infrastructure, the creation of 15 new stops, the construction of three grade-separated intersections and a siding in Amstelveen.

PosadMaxwan supervised the realization, in accordance with the image quality plan we previously prepared for the stops and public space around these intersections. This plan was tested through multiple participation meetings and enriched with wishes of local residents and stakeholders, after which the realization was successfully completed in 2020.
The realization led to a transformation of the former light rail 51 into a safe, fast, reliable and comfortable streetcar connection. Much attention was also paid to pedestrians and cyclists during the incorporation of the Amstelveen Line by providing good street lighting, wide footpaths and safe bike lanes. The grade-separated intersection has been given an open and spacious appearance, with vistas to the greenery behind. This not only makes the intersections more orderly, but also benefits social safety. The safe integration of these flows of pedestrians, cyclists and car traffic also called for clear markings in materials. Here, the crossings are clearly marked and designed to be clear and recognizable. The new stops have copper-look walls, which have a sound-absorbing effect due to their shape and material. In addition, the walls are equipped with string lighting. This gives the stops a warm atmosphere and offers waiting travelers the most pleasant experience possible.
Finally, the starting point of the redesign was to restore and bring back the existing green qualities as much as possible. This involved coordinating with local residents to bring back the trees and plantings so that the attractive green character was maintained and the adverse aspects of limited sunlight entering homes and dark, socially unsafe corners were avoided.
